Saturday and My Weekend Start

Well here I am behind the keyboard once again! I'm listening to some idiot setting off fireworks. I don't mind it so much around New Years Eve and it's totally okay on the 4th of July, but not on any other holiday. Sorry shouldn't be a party pooper. So what's up? Today, I finally got around to going to the pharmacy. I needed to get my prescription picked up. Did I tell you about that mess? Apparently my last doctor's visit was a total wash. They never got around to calling it over to CVS. I had to call my doctor's office and get it sent over. My pharmacy called over or at least I thought they did. At any case, I won't have to go without my blood rate medication. A fact that sort of scares me if I can be honest. While I was out, I found myself developing a bit of toothache. I'm doing much better now but at the time, I was hurting. I even had pretty good migraine going on. It was complete with the whole light sensitivity. I felt like crap. I didn't even want to be out doing anything. I bent down to tie my shoe and heard someone say my name. I turned around to see a woman and her son. I knew her but I couldn't place her and it hit me. I knew her from high school. I'm sure that I looked like crap too. I hadn't planned on going anywhere, especially once the ache started. At some point, I'll start working on my writing. I need to take breaks from time to time. Anyone else write take breaks from their hobbies from time to time? I'm also thinking of getting a few more tarantulas. Memorial Day Hopes and Notes, My Voice

I'm glad to have you here today reading this post. I've been watching the "The War" on PBS. Last night, the series focused on D-Day and one of the worst battles in the Pacific front. I've been to Little Big Horn. While I've never stood in any of the Civil War battlefields, I've stood by the graves of Civil War vets and felt sorrow and hope. Sorrow, over the fact that so many individuals had to sacrifice their lives for the lives of other and for the sake of our great country. Our enemies have ranged from a British King to terrorists. We've fought on our soil and on the Europe's soils. Our boys, our men, and our women have fought on mountains, in deserts, on the sea, and in the air. Some have died in battle, others have passed in training, and others died while prisoners of war. To those families who have loved ones who are missing in action, I pray that your solider can come home and that closure comes to your hearts. I haven't agreed with every action by our Presidents, our generals, or individual soldiers. I will always support our troops. I wish them the best in all they do and I pray for their safety.

 

Maybe I am wearing out this next portion but I'm going to say it any way. It sickens me that we have deviants in our society who choose to protest and intrude upon the funerals of our soldiers. They deserve better than this, and anyone who participates in such activities should be arrested no questions asked. My sincere thanks goes out to anyone or any group who has and who will stand up to those sad and pathetic goons. In my mind, their actions can be likened to spitting on the graves of the graves of our fallen soldiers. I'm sorry if you don't agree with me on this that is just too dam bad. All I can say is get over it.

 

Now let's move away from that, I want to ask you to do a favor on Memorial day. As you spend time grilling, eating, and spending time with your family, remember our soldiers who have fallen and sacrificed for you and our country. Without their sacrifice our nation and our world would not be the same. Thanks for reading this!

36 Dead

We are facing an issue here in the Chicago area, more precisely in Chicago. Kids are dying and it's not from the swine flu. What's killing them? Gun violence is killing the kids. At the time of this writing, a total of 36 Chicago kids/students have been killed. Many of those killed have no links to drugs or gangs. They are victims of someone else's rage and stupidity. I know that the guns are the weapons but a person pulled the trigger each time. It's not the gun that is evil.

 

The person who pulled the trigger should be held accountable. They need to receive justice. It needs to be followed through on and not shortened. There needs to be a way to enforce our laws that will get the message across. We need to save our kids and each other as well.

Help Anyone know the answer to my question

Okay to all you nature buffs out there help me out on this okay! I heard the birds in my yard chirping like crazy so I went out to investigate. Didn't see a thing, there were no cats, no squirrels, no hawks, no owls, no blue jays, and no crows. But there was a lone grackle in the yard. He was picking feathers from a dead house sparrow, a female to be precise. I left to see my older brother just a couple houses down. When I came back the sparrow was gone and so was the grackle. I went to the back of my house for a second and when I came back around the grackle was busy feeding on something. I got up closer and realized that it was feeding on meat. I spooked it on accident and when I peeked at what it was eating. It was eating the muscles attached to dismembered sparrow's leg. The only items left were the wings, the head, and what appeared to be the heart. Now here is the question, has anyone else ever seen a grackle killing and eating another bird before???

Crying At The Doorway

Crying, leaving, saying good-bye, a little kid say farewell to his best friend; his dad. This little boy would like to bar his father from going off to war. His dad hurts too and sheds a tear as he sees his little man with hand outstretched to the air. Hands outstretched to his dad, eyes red with the tears that were shared between father and son. Dad reaches down into his pants pocket and pulls out two dog tags, one for his son and one for his wife. He places his tag around the neck of his son and tells him to keep it. A picture of the departing soldier hangs in his room, a quiet reminder that his daddy is there. Finally, the time to leave has come with tears in their eyes, they walk out to his car and kisses are passed out. The day is done and dad must go amongst the tears of his wife and kid.

Southern Gastric Brooding Frogs

  Southern Gastric Brooding Frog - ( Rheobatrachus silus )

There are many surprises in the animal kingdom. Many wonderful adaptations that allow animals to protect their young and to survive. Today, we are taking a look at one of those surprises in the animal kingdom. The gastric brooding frogs are an aquatic species of frog. They are known to breed during the summer. The females lay anywhere from 18 to 25 eggs. She will then swallow her eggs. Her eggs produce secretions that suppress the digestive fluids in her stomach. The eggs stay in the stomach for 6 to 7 weeks. When the eggs hatch and develop, they will grow into tiny froglets. They emerge from mom's mouth when ready to live on their own. As adults this frog will reach 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 inch long. The froglets mature in one year. These frogs may live for 3 years. The Southern Gastric Brooding Frogs were not discovered until 1973. It is thought that these frogs may be extinct in the wild. There are only 2 species of gastric brooding frogs. The Southern gastric brooding frog lives in Australia. Once again, we have taken a trip together into the wilds of our great nation.

Did you know that frogs are experiencing troubles? Our pollutions are poisoning our waters. As our poisons gather in the lakes, rivers, swamps and other bodies of water, we see these animals experiencing huge problems. Many frogs in heavily polluted waters will have handicaps. People find frogs with extra legs or deformed legs. You might also find animals with a high levels of mercury in their bodies. Humans are facing the possible extinction of many species of amphibians. Well, now you know a little about the world around us.
