I've come up with a list that few items on it. I am going to discuss each one and hopefully have it make sense in the end. I think that if I really spent time thinking about that the list might be longer, but at this point it's already plenty long. In fact, I cut some of the items off list. One thing I love about writing is that it can be therapeutic.
First of all, I am an American. I was born here and some day, I will lie down and die here. As citizen, my country isn't very supportive of me. With that being said, I love this country. We are blessed even though we struggle. I don't know about anyone else but I am proud to be a citizen. Someday, there will be equal rights for all.
While I am on the subject a bit, I just thought that I would mention that I'm gay. You know what though; it's only a small part of who I am. There isn't a single one of these subjects that really outweigh the other. Of all the parts of me that exist, this part of me causes the most hardships for me. It also helps me out immensely because I believe it has helped to make me a kinder person to a degree maybe more understanding is a better word. Bottom line, I'm just like you.
Religion has played a major role in my life. I'm Mormon. Yes, I said it. I don't agree with the church's views on my life and the life of others. Now, I don't think anyone will be surprised but I don't believe that being gay is totally evil. I know what the church teaches on the eternal family, and I just wish that my hopefully future family could be eternal. Sadly, it's really just a wish.
Ummm...I'm a bookworm. I'm not always reading but a book goes with me with me almost everywhere. Lately, the books have been mostly non-fiction. An hour or two each week is spent researching out a plant or an animal for my nature posts. I would love to get into some fictional books. A little escape isn't bad is it?
Talking about escapes, my number one great escape is nature, especially if I'm in a quiet spot. I love being able to take it all in and then some. It gives my mind a chance to be free. Well, there is also something very cool about being surrounded by living things. You really feel that connection when you're out amongst the forest. Being able to feel that connection is inspiring at least for me.
Education plays a big role in my life. While I'm not a teacher by job title, I do teach every day. I like to think that my teaching goes beyond the classroom and it often does. My animals open the door for questions and I do my best to answer them. I love having the animals out for a presentation. Kids and teens especially need to see that my pets and animals like them aren't evil monsters. Being an educator is important to me.
Another huge part of my life is my family. They may not accept as a whole person but I will always be a part of this family. I am the third kid born into my family. There are four kids in my family, 1 girl and 3 boys. Three of us are active or semi-active in church. Two of my siblings are married. Together, my sister and my brother have blessed me with seven nephews and 4 nieces. I also have two great nephews. I will always love them no matter what. I might be mad at them or disappointed in them but I will always love them. All of my grandparents are gone from this life. I have aunts, uncles, and cousins. I am not really sure how many cousins that I have. There are just a ton of them.
I need no crave "me" time. For about an hour every day, I play World of Warcraft. Never in a million years, did I see myself playing this game. My younger brother got me playing the game. I need something to help me ease back into the home mode.
Besides my love of all things nature, my second love is writing. I love creating and then giving life to a character. What scares me ever so slightly is that all my characters will be the same. I think, a great writer can make his characters come to life completely and utterly before the reader's eyes. As you may or may not know, I am currently working on three stories; The Mirror, The Journey Begins, and Jason and Shaun. I guess, my editor stays pretty busy. I have never been paid for my writing but I still love to write and create.
Most of you know that my pets are sort of unique. I'm not sure what the exact pet count is but I'm thinking it's around 40. I love their uniqueness. Yes, there are others who keep tarantulas and that is awesome because it gives me someone to bounce ideas off of. Now, I don't have just tarantulas. Currently, my collection includes one female scorpion, 1 centipede, 2 millipedes, and a collection of Madagascar Hissing Roaches.
I love and cherish my friends. I don't do a very good job at telling them and I don't do a good job at staying in contact with them. So do anyone of you feel slighted since I don't spend as much as time communicating with you.
This one might be a little farfetched but I still enjoy it. I love photography. I love to do nature photography. It's better than taking it with me. I can snap a picture. In an instant, my subject is captured. Of course, I take way more pictures of a subject then what you will ever see. For that matter, only the best pictures get put on the computer.
Lastly, I am a geek. I won't label myself a nerd but I suppose if the shoe fits I had better own it, right? My inner geek shows through in a couple different ways. I always have two spiral notebooks with me; one for poetry and another is my journal/blog notebook. Sometimes, I can be found with manila folders, which house my stories. I also get really geeky when it comes to animals and plants. I get excited when I talk about them and I tend to explode with knowledge. Sometimes, I push out too much information.
