What to say about the last four days? What's been on my mind for the past four days? Well, I don't there's been a lot on my mind but you be the judge. One thing that, I've been dealing with is a writer's block. I can't get some scenes right in my head. I can picture it but I can't put it to the computer screen. More on that later! My mind has been focused on Washington D.C. and on Wyoming as well as the every mundane day to day issues that pop up in a person's life.
Washington D.C., the home of our federal government, has been the scene of the March for Equality and certainly equality is very important in my life, however the real news was Obama okaying the increase of troops in Afghanistan. While I saddened by his decision, I am not surprised by his decision. Our troops are there to do a job. While it's was hard to hear that more troops will be sent to the middle east, it is possible that the job requires more troops. I don't know how I personally feel about this news. It seems wrong to send pull troops now with the holidays so close. To all the troops who are currently serving wherever they maybe, I wish you the very best. To all the troops who are serving and will be serving, God bless you!
This weekend was a rough one for me. I tend to get emotional around this time of year. Maybe it's a bit silly to do so but I do. The 11th of October is a date / a day that I will never forget. I remember being downstairs at in the student center while in college and watching the news from Wyoming streaming across the television. Those images will stick with me for a very long time. It's not just the day that Matthew Shepherd ( pardon my spelling ) died. It's become a day of remembrance for me; a day to remember the other victims of hate. Sadly, I don't remember the names of every victim of homophobic hate. Don't you think we need to have a day set aside just to remember the victims? To those who say hate is hate and murder is murder, I agree with you but get real. If you are straight, then these bigots aren't targeting you, so yeah guess your argument doesn't totally hold water. I know you can be murdered with a gun, just as some of the victims of hate crimes have been, but I bet if you're straight that you don't see yourself in the victim's faces. To all the haters, I say get a life. To the families of victims, I am deeply, deeply sorry.
While, I couldn't go to D.C. this weekend, it was nice to view videos from Youtube. It was awesome to glimpse one of Lady Gaga. It's very cool to have the support of a celebrity as long as she wasn't just doing lip service to us. I don't think it was lip service though. Thanks to everyone who posted their wonderful videos.
Overall, the weekend wasn't too bad. It didn't turn bad until Sunday, Monday, and then Tuesday. I had a minor headache and a minor toothache Sunday night. By early Monday morning, it was full blown toothache and full blown migraine. Needless to say, I didn't sleep, so I called off from work. Did I mention that in another post, I can't remember. I slept a lot on Monday. On Tuesday, I again didn't sleep good but I woke up with nausea and was just very uncomfortable. So I stayed home on Tuesday as well. Guys, today was incredible. The kid who gives me all the trouble this year, smiled at me this morning as he got off the bus seeming to say "I missed you Mr. B.". I am still really tired.
