The title itself drives me crazy. There are choices that one can make in relation to being gay. One choice we can make is to be celibate. We can choose to try and even succeed at being straight. Third, we can choose to come out or stay in the closet. We can choose to be partners with another guy. So yes, there are choices that can make however, some aren't all that easy and some are extremely easy, however I don't believe that we can choose our sexuality.
I believe that we are somehow wired in the womb when it comes to our own sexuality. I don't know nor do I pretend to know how it happens. I know that somewhere within our brains, something is different from our hetero counterparts. It could be something in the nurturing process or whatever mumbo-jumbo that others can come up with. It is something very real going on in our minds, and not something that is so easily dismissed.
To anyone who thinks differently, give me something! Something that isn't just based on your opinions and although I hate to say this your religious beliefs. You're welcome to your opinion and your religious beliefs. I will not take choose anything away from you. Nor am I about to argue religion with you. I am who I am.
I get the impression that some people think being gay is purely a choice. They seem to think that it can be magically turned off at any time. Life just isn't that easy. I guess, there might be people out there that have been able to turn off the switch. If there is a such a switch, I would have turned it off while I was a teenager. Now as an adult, I want nothing more than to be me.
I want to be me. Those of you who don't like gays need to just go away. Seriously, you need too. I am not out to seduce anyone. I don't' prey on kids. I'm not the reason for any of the wrongs going on in the world. Just want to be me!
