We all had it that one job that we wanted when we were kids. Sure, maybe it changed as we got older and entered junior high or high school. Sometimes we get lucky, we find ourselves doing what we love or we grow to love it. I never saw myself as a writer and I don't have a lot of money to show for it but I've made a little bit off of it. I never saw myself in education and though I am not a teacher. I am still in education and never saw myself as a teacher. My first love is nature. I've mentioned this time and time again on here. This is a writing prompt that I thought I would tackle tonight.
How about you what did you want to do as a kid?
I wanted to be a zookeeper. I dreamed of working with exotic animal and teaching people about them.
Did you know what work you'd do as an adult?
No, I had no idea that my life would lead me back to my high school while working in special education as an aide. While at the same time, I find myself drawn to writing.
If so, was it because it was your family business, because it would get you out of your hometown, or because you'd be able to change the world?
I always looked up to people who worked in zoos or worked around animals. As a kid, I learned that once an animal accepted you. They accepted you for you. It didn't matter to them that you were different from everyone else. It only mattered that you treated them with respect.
What happened…did your dream become a reality?
No, my dream of working in zoos never became a reality. Though who knows what the future holds. I never dreamed I would have a book for sale and I do. I am working on some plans that I am not going to share just yet.
