Bird call challenge

This little quiz / challenge is on Enature.com. You enter your zip code and it gives you a bird call. You are given 5 different calls. Each bird call comes with 3 birds to choose from. It's a pretty cool way to test your knowledge of bird calls. I took the challenge and got 4 out of 5. You can enter any zip code and run through challenge and see how you do with regions that you don't live in. You can also take the challenge a second time for your zip code. Pretty cool! Try it out!

If you are anything like me, you occasionally stumble across a plant or an animal that you have no idea what is. There are tons of books you can buy to help in id living things, and there are websites that you can use to help you id living things. Discover life is one of those sites. They have tons of areas that you can click into help you id from plants to insects. If you've found a plant or an animal that you don't know what is check this site out. It's not filled with a lot of technical terms. So come check it out and enjoy.

If you read my stuff…

If you've read my blog for any length of time, you know that I get really upset when I hear about kids getting abused or wronged in an way. While doing some research for a story chapter that I'm working on, I came across a nation-wide organization called Stand up for kids. They are located in several states across the country but not all of them. In my area, there are two centers one in Chicago and the other in Indianapolis. These organizations help these teens have a safe place to go to, they provide clothing, food, and other needs that they might need. They help them get jobs, find apartments, and they provide variety of other services. They are however in need of supplies, food, and clothing. I'm going to figure out a way to send supplies to the Chicago area center. Hopefully, I'll be able to help out at least by sending a care package from time to time. So yeah check them out, see what you can do to help it.

I came across this site while visiting TowleRoad. The short little post on TowleRoad featured a Mormon guy from Utah. I have to admit that his story caught my eye, and soon I was reading the stories of other guys. Most of them ended well, while a couple were hard to read. Guys, Gals, if you have a quiet moment on the web and you want to check out some real life stories from all across the world check out this site.

This site is called Fossil Collecting Directory. I figured this fits into my area of my interests so, what the heck. What I liked about this site is that it gives areas that you can hunt for fossils in each state including Hawaii although at this time there aren't any entries for that particular state. So it gives the area, and then it also tells you if you need permission, tells you the best areas to look in, and it also tells you what type of fossils to look for. Now, this is not a complete listing of areas in which you can find fossils, but it's a good start. Check it out.
